plans for Hot Potatoes
Hot Potatoes version 6 is loosely scheduled for the fourth quarter of
2003. A beta version of the Windows suite is already available. Its
features will include: Full
Unicode support for data/configuration text (enter your questions, answers
etc. in any language) including right-to-left languages Java version
for Mac/Linux including the Masher, hotpotatoes.net uploads, and Dublin
Core metadata support Built-in spell-checking (if MSWord is installed
on the system) Combining of JBC and JQuiz, to enable more sophisticated
exercises with mixed question types, feedback for each answer in short-answer
questions, score weighting for answers, and a new «hybrid»
question type Support for building and uploading whole sequences of
exercises and other pages in one operation from the Masher to hotpotatoes.net
Support for WYSIWYG editing of output pages (with DreamWeaver, FrontPage,
etc.) Onscreen keypads automatically generated
for JCross, JCloze and JQuiz so that students can easily enter characters
that aren't on their keyboard. Full XHTML and CSS compliance in the
standard v6 output
Support for PNG graphics Support for embedding
media files and players using cascading XHTML <object> tags
More attention to the needs of disabled users
